Overview The outstanding, and very impressive, Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque Resort is luxurious, spacious and built in the style of an early 20th century Canarian village. Rooms and suites are in linked wings which fan out either side of a central building, where reception, lobby and Club House are located, and which enclose a huge area of gardens, pools, artificial lakes and cascades. Incorporating the ultra luxurious Casas Ducales section, and the splendid self contained villa area, the Resort offers exceptionally high standards to satisfy the most discerning of guests.
Location Adjacent to the sea and the beach, the hotel is 1 km west of Fanabe and 4kms from the centre of Playa de las Americas. Spectacular sunsets silhouetting the Island of La Gomera can be enjoyed from the terraces.
Relaxation The extensive tiered gardens with 4 adult swimming pools, a children’s pool, and sun terraces, allow lots of quiet corners for sun bathing and reading in relative seclusion. The centre-point is a square ringed by four restaurants, 2 bars and a reading room. Sun loungers and parasols are free of charge within the resort but carry a charge on the beach. There is an exceptional choice of bars including a lobby and piano bar, 2 pool bars, a Spanish “Tasca” for drinks and tapas, a beach bar, coffee corner and Café La Bahia.
Sports Fitness centre, tennis, squash, table tennis and jogging track. Water sports, including fishing, diving, windsurfing, sailing and water-skiing can be arranged through the Club House.
Dining There are no less than 8 restaurants and eateries: “El Bernegal” for buffet style breakfasts and half board dinners, “El Duque” for gourmet cuisine, and the beach club specialises in paellas and fish dishes. The “Hacienda” offers meat on the grill, and “La Tasca” is for typical Spanish tapas and light dishes. French and Italian food is on offer at “Brasserie” and “Trattoria” respectively with Café La Bahia open for snacks. Most of the speciality restaurants offer a daily half board menu.
