Overview This comfortable and spacious hotel, managed by the experienced Sol Melia Group, overlooks a long, peaceful beach in restful surroundings. Offering a choice of dining with themed sections of the main restaurant, excellent in-house entertainments, and good facilities for children, the Melia Tamarindos is a good choice at sensible prices.
Location A prime position in San Agustin directly overlooking the beach, with magnificent views over the Atlantic. In an area with lots of holiday homes and villas, it’s about 500 metres from the Shopping Centre where there are numerous shops, cafés and restaurants. The delightful sub-tropical gardens lead down to the beach and promenade, and offer ample space for relaxation. The major resort of Playa del Ingles is about 4 kms away and easily reached by bus or taxi.
Relaxation Two large lagoon-shaped swimming pools, one heatable, complement the 18000 square metres of exotic plants, lawns, lush gardens and terraces equipped with sun loungers and parasols. A pool bar serves drinks, and there are two inviting open air jacuzzis. Pool towel service. Inside, wind down in the spacious lounges or just relax over a drink in the lobby or cocktail bars.
Sports/Games Tennis and squash courts, billiards, table tennis, archery, darts, and mini golf. Several golf courses in the area. Water sports in San Agustin and nearby Playa del Ingles.
Dining A harpist entertains while you sip a glass of Spanish sparkling wine at the hot and cold breakfast buffet. The poolside Tara restaurant offers a la carte snacks for lunch with show cooking; and for dinner buffet style choose the Roque Nublo with its Italian and Chinese specialities, or dine a la carte at the hotel's Casino restaurant (adults only). Three times a week there is a themed dinner – Canaries, Italian, Oriental or Spanish.
Entertainments Daily activity programme in the Club House with library, international press and internet access (local charge). A recent innovation is the fascinating Sky Observatory. Evening entertainment with professional shows several times a week, live music and disco bar.
Special Features The Spa and fitness centre is a great attraction and offers a gym with the latest equipment, and sauna, massage, beauty and health treatments at a charge. Within the building is the Casino Gran Canaria with free entrance for hotel guests.
