Set in extensive grounds, in harmony with the landscape, Kalimera Kriti resort comprises a main hotel with three traditionally Cretan-styled villages of one and two storey bungalows/villas, adjacent to golden beaches.
Overview Laid-out over 60 acres incorporating colourful gardens and lawns; Kalimera Kriti offers a wide range of activities and entertainments when you wish to join in, and ample space to relax in when you’d rather not. Families will find plenty to keep the youngsters busy, as will couples who prefer an active style of holiday.
Location Just about a 10 minute stroll from the former fishermen’s village of Sissi, which has changed little and offers a selection of shops and tavernas in the centre and by the old port. Aghios Nicolaos port is some 24 kms away and the small town of Malia is 10 kms away, if you feel like an evening out.
Relaxation A large garden area surrounds the two freshwater pools, one Olympic size, or a few steps will take you to the beach, where loungers and parasols are provided free of charge. There is also a superb indoor pool. For daytime snacks and refreshments, the resort has a Beach Bar, a pool snack bar and, in the shopping centre, the Cafeteria is open from morning until late evening.
Sports Six tennis courts, two squash courts, beach volleyball, mini-golf and table tennis, plus a gym with Technogym equipment. Bridge room and billiards. Water sports centre offers water-ski and jet ski, pedal boats, canoes and parasailing. Charges apply for most activities, with one hour free per room per day for tennis, squash, mini-golf and gym. The Crete Golf Club is 20 kms away with reduced green fees for hotel guests.
Dining The main restaurant is ‘Artemis’ has a large veranda overlooking the sea and offers a full buffet breakfast. At dinner, salads, starters and dessert are from the buffet, while the main course is served. The ‘Dionyssos’ à la carte restaurant by the swimming pool, offers a wide range of seafood and Mediterranean delicacies for lunch and dinner. Themed evenings are arranged weekly including barbecue, Greek Night or Fish Festival, with live music.
Entertainment The animation team organises daytime and evening activities, cinema in the open-air theatre and special evenings with live music or disco.
Special features Spilia is a fantastic, and unique, natural cave where shows and special events are held. The shopping arcade has a mini-market, boutique, jewellers and gift shop with Greek and Cretan products.
For Children Superb mini-club for 4-12 year olds, and, in peak season a programme for teenagers. The club has two freshwater pools and a splash pool. Playground. Daily children’s menu in the main restaurant. Baby sitting service (charge).
