Relaxation Beautiful gardens, sun terraces with loungers and sun-shades around the heated outdoor pool. The long, uncrowded beach, where the hotel has a reserved area with sunbeds and parasols, is reached by a footbridge over the estuary, which is a famous bird sanctuary. There’s a pool bar for daytime drinks in summer, and at the beach Gigi’s has a good selection of refreshments. The tastefully furnished Quinta do Lago has comfortable air conditioned lounges and the Laguna cocktail bar for aperitifs and after dinner drinks.
Sports/Games Two tennis courts, a heated indoor pool, table tennis and bicycles for rent. Golfers will relish the Quinta do Lago courses as well as many others in the area (special rates for hotel guests). Within the estate is a salt-water lake for windsurfing, fishing and other water sports. Dining Two excellent restaurants - the Brisa do Mar serves traditional Portuguese as well as International specialities and the Ca d’Oro, open for dinner, is the hotel’s Italian restaurant. Lunch can be enjoyed by the pool, and Gigi’s restaurant at the beach is renowned for its fresh grilled fish and shellfish, ideal for that light daytime snack or lunch.
Entertainments Low key within the hotel, centred around the Laguna bar’s live music, and unhurried dining in one of the restaurants. Outside, there’s a choice of nightclub-style entertainment. The Allegro Club and Patio Disco are just a couple of minutes’ drive, and 5 minutes’ away is the famous and sophisticated T-Clube.
